Photography competition winners announced by banking group

CONTEST WINNER: Leo Caldecott’s winning entry Radical Steps in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria

A banking group has announced the winners of its 2022 photography competition themed ‘The Great British Outdoors’.

Lloyds Bank invited amateur photographers to submit photos that show the beauty and diversity of Britain’s outdoor spaces.

Participants were asked to submit contributions via the bank’s Facebook and Instagram pages using the hashtag #LloydsBankPhotoComp2022.

The winner was Leo Caldecott who photographed the Radical Steps Kirkby LonsdaleCumbria.

Leo has won a two night break for two in the Peak District and an iPhone 13 Pro.

“To see myself in the top five for my very first photo contest was a privilege,” said Leo.

“My winning photo was taken in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria by the Radical Steps. I stumbled upon this when the conditions were in my favour; a light layer of water on the steps themselves and the lighting provided a perfect opportunity.

SECOND PLACE: Arron Tucker’s stunning competition entry

“The competition has given me the confidence to continue and advance this relatively new journey of mine. Having bought my first camera less than a year ago, I quickly realized that capturing images amidst the beauty of the British countryside is now a passion of Mine.

“If I can produce an image worthy of winning such a great competition, then so can you!”

Second place went to Arron Tucker for his stunning photo of a fishing boat in Corpach, Fort Williaminverness

Rob Bates won third prize with his beautiful image of a sunset in the Peak District of Derbyshire.

THIRD PLACE: Rob Bates captured this beautiful sunset

Second and third place winners each received a Sony A6000 camera and a Jessops Photo Experience Voucher.

David McConaghy, landscape photographer and judge, said: “I was really amazed at the diversity of images and talent at this year’s Lloyds Bank Photo Competition.

“It was incredibly difficult to shortlist the images from a wealth of quality landscape photography captured from all corners of the UK.

“The three winners created and submitted outstanding images, full of color and emotion, brilliantly composed and thought out; Congratulations to all three finalists.”
