Love’s Travel Stop in Laredo to host Jamaica Fest for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

A Love’s Travel Stop in Laredo will host a Jamaica benefit of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as one of their Love’s Fundraising Campaign activities. It will be held on Saturday September 24th from 9am to 2pm at the Love’s Travel Stop, 101 Pinnacle Road.

As this year marks Love’s 22nd participation in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the company has raised $35 million to date.

When the site of this Love arrived in town a little over two years ago, he joined the cause locally to help with the organization.

The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for children’s hospitals in North America.

According to Love’s, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has grown to be the premier organization providing medical care to millions of children through its network of hospitals.

Love’s Travel Stop general manager Juan Aleman said it’s a good way to get the community to unite for a good cause.

“I’m very excited about this organization,” Aleman said. “I’ve been fortunate to have been blessed with a healthy life and to have three amazing, healthy children of my own, but I also understand that not everyone can say the same thing. So when I think of a sick child and parents who cannot afford medical care regardless of income, the children’s hospital will never refuse to care for their children. It’s just amazing to know of organizations that are doing this, so they depend on people like you and me to raise funds to continue to fund their services.”

Aleman emphasized that since Webb County doesn’t have an on-site children’s hospital, it’s crucial to give back to the hospitals that treat the community’s children.

“Every dollar donated goes 100% to the local hospital,” Aleman said. “Now we don’t have a local Children’s Hospital in Webb County, but all Webb County children who need special attention are referred to Children’s San Antonio Hospital, so every dollar we raise goes 100% to benefit that hospital.”

He explained that this year’s campaign has already raised over $23,000 in one month with one week left in the campaign.

“This year our goal was $30,000, and it looks like we’re missing our target,” Aleman said. “But next year I want to raise $40,000 and next year more and more!

“In a world where we only see negative things, these are the things that are worth it. Hope, support, and a community that comes together to help others, that’s what it’s all about.”
