‘It’s weird that he hates me’

Actor and comedian TJ Miller has announced that he is not interested in returning dead pool 3 — or working again and again with Ryan Reynolds — after the pair had an “odd moment” together on set.

Miller, who played outspoken bartender Weasel in the first two films in the franchise, says he thinks his former co-star hates him and recalled a time when Reynolds reportedly asked for another take to put Miller in front of one of the cast members and the film’s crew.

“As a character, he was terribly mean to me. But to me. Like I’m a weasel,” Miller continued The Adam Carola Show. “He was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you show just enough that it’s funny, and then we can go and get back to the real movie.’”

Reynolds jab surprised Miller. “I was just listening and thought it was weird and then I walked off stage because they said, ‘Cut…?'” he said, noting that the crew also seemed uncomfortable after the scene.

While his character does to drive the overall storyline forward, Miller suggested the interaction went deeper than just an on-screen dynamic. “That’s exactly why he said that,” he said flatly. “Because I’m not any funnier than him, right? And I haven’t been in more films than he has.”

Miller said the moment told him everything he needed to know about Reynolds. “Would I work with him again? no I wouldn’t work with him again,” he said, adding, “I kind of wish him well because he’s so good at it Dead Pooland I find it odd that he hates me.”

The actor-comedian has earned his own shady reputation. Miller has been involved in several controversies throughout his career. He was accused of sexual assault by a woman in 2017, an allegation he denied. A year later, he denied bullying a fellow actor on the set of his HBO series Silicon Valley.

Throughout the interview, Miller maintained that he genuinely enjoys Reynolds’ performance as a mercenary with a mouth — even though he’s an “insecure guy” in real life. “He’s such a good comedian that if you cover his face he’s so fast, he’s so funny,” he said. “I love him as a comedian but I guess after he became super, super famous from the start Dead Pool, then things kind of changed. I think he was like, ‘See? Do you see?'”

Despite his comments, Miller admitted his stance on working with Reynolds again may change. “I said that about Michael Bay and now we’re friends and I would work with him again,” he said, before adding that Bay similarly has a “very specific opinion” of Reynolds after working on the film in 2019 had worked together 6 underground.

Still, don’t expect Weasel to show up in the future Dead Pool Guess. “I don’t really think you should do anything longer than five years,” he said. “I find it odd to just go back ten years later and play Weasel.

But he added: “I wish them no ill will. I think [Reynolds] should make one dead pool 3 and keep making films. I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was odd the way he put it.”

A Reynolds representative did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

dead pool 3also starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is slated to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
