Hands-On With the Apple Music App for Tesla

Automaker Tesla released a holiday software update last week that added Apple Music support to Tesla vehicles, so we thought we’d check it out for those interested in a hands-on demonstration of how the company’s streaming music service works. Apple not Tesla. platform

Apple Music support for Tesla cars is something Tesla owners have been waiting for a while, as the electric car company previously only worked with streaming services like Spotify.

The experience works as you would expect and the full service of ‌Apple Music‌ is available. The browsing experience is superior compared to Spotify, such as options to tap songs in a playlist to access the entire album along with better interface interactions.

Navigation is also easy, although it’s worth noting that iTunes Match content doesn’t appear to be available for access. Lossless and Dolby Atmos also don’t appear to be available in Teslas right now, and it’s unclear if that functionality will be activated at a later date.

If you’re a Tesla owner, you’ll need the Tesla Holiday Update 2022.44.25 to access ‌Apple Music‌, which has been rolling out for the past seven days.
