Adorable cheetah cubs and a bewitching gorilla: The winners of the 2022 Black and White Photo Awards


From an adorable image of a mother cheetah and her cubs to a shot of a gorilla “staring into your soul,” the amazing winners of the 2022 Black and White Photo Awards have been announced

  • The global competition, in its inaugural year, provides a platform for the “incredible” monochrome photography
  • The images were judged in five categories – landscape, architecture, street, portrait, and fauna and flora
  • Belgian photographer Johan Willems captured the winning image of a cheetah and its cubs

These photographers prove they don’t need all the colors of the rainbow to create truly mesmerizing images.

Her photography was awarded in Black and White Photo Prize 2022a photography competition that provides a platform for “incredible” monochrome photography around the world.

The competition, in its inaugural year, welcomed photographic submissions in five categories – landscape, architecture, street, portrait, and fauna and flora.

A mesmerizing image of a silverback mountain gorilla in Uganda, an evocative image of a beaten path in the Peak District and a romantic light shot over a meadow in the Dolomites were among the photographs that wowed the judges.

However, it is an adorable image of a cheetah surrounded by her tiny cubs, captured by Belgian photographer Johan Willems, which came out on top overall and earned the top prize of £873 (€1,000).
