From an adorable image of a mother cheetah and her cubs to a shot of a gorilla “staring into your soul,” the amazing winners of the 2022 Black and White Photo Awards have been announced

These photographers prove they don’t need all the colors of the rainbow to create truly mesmerizing images.
Her photography was awarded in Black and White Photo Prize 2022a photography competition that provides a platform for “incredible” monochrome photography around the world.
The competition, in its inaugural year, welcomed photographic submissions in five categories – landscape, architecture, street, portrait, and fauna and flora.
A mesmerizing image of a silverback mountain gorilla in Uganda, an evocative image of a beaten path in the Peak District and a romantic light shot over a meadow in the Dolomites were among the photographs that wowed the judges.
However, it is an adorable image of a cheetah surrounded by her tiny cubs, captured by Belgian photographer Johan Willems, which came out on top overall and earned the top prize of £873 (€1,000).

This stunning shot by Andy Gray shows dark clouds swirling over the Great Ridge Walkway, a popular hiking route in the Peak District, England. It received the “Bronze Mention” in the “Landscape” category.
This fascinating image shows the Alpe di Siusi plateau – also known as the largest high plateau in Europe – towered over by the Sassolungo massif in the Dolomites in Italy. It was taken by photographer Ales Krivec and deserves a “Gold Mention” in the Landscape category.

RIGHT: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in southwestern Uganda was the backdrop for this captivating image of a silverback mountain gorilla named Mark. Photographer Pavlos Evangelidis shared the picture on Instagram and said that Mark, who “weighs about 225 kg (496 lbs),” is looking after the other members of his Nyakagezi gorilla family at the national park. “Look at him and tell me you don’t get cold when he stares straight into your soul,” he writes. The picture is a finalist in the competition
This spectacular landscape earns a Bronze Mention in the Landscape category. It was taken by photographer Xu Dong, who gives it the title Country Road Take Me Home.
Photographer Carlos Guevara Vivanco captured this extraordinary image of a puffing and puffing humpback whale in the Strait of Magellan, a seaway in southern Chile. The photographer, who took the picture from a small inflatable boat, tells his Instagram followers that “feeling the fragility of our boat in front of these giants of the sea was really amazing”.
