2022 Sports Year in Review – May & June – BladenOnline

The month of May began with both Bladen girls soccer teams making the state playoffs, with East Bladen advancing to the second round. The West Bladen and East Bladen softball teams made the playoffs, with East Bladen suffering a tough loss as East Duplin battled to a 2-run victory in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Coach Grant Pate’s Eagle baseball team defeated No. 2 seed Camden County 11-6 in the first round of the playoffs, while North Lenoir beat the Eagles 10-6 in their second round game.

West Bladen’s girls won the Southeastern Athletic Conference track and field championships led by Trinity Van Aiken, Jessalinn Wendrick and Shenila Hunter. Nine Bladen girls qualified for the state championships. East Bladen’s Malcolm Bolden and West Bladen’s Tydrick Stewart finished in the top ten at the state boys meet.

Former East Bladen star Kaylee Raynor had a big softball season at Methodist. West Bladen’s John Bowen and Demaryius Robinson have committed for next season. Logan West earned all-conference honors in college baseball. East Bladen’s Maya McDonald earned All-State honors in soccer. Sports award programs were organized across the state.
