11 things to do with your kids this weekend (Sept. 23-25)


Plan your weekend with these events including some festivals.

14 Sept-Oct 2: Frozen – Watch this musical version of the popular Disney film at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
September 23-25: 2022 Raleigh Greek Drive Thru – Enjoy great food during this drive-thru event at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in North Raleigh September 23-25. Dinner, pastries and a la carte dining available.
September 24: Festa Italiana Raleigh – Head to Glenwood South on September 24th for this Italian street festival. There will be food, music and a children’s area.
24 Sept: The Harvest Festival – This festival celebrates the harvest season. There will be live music, a children’s play area, fun games, interactive exhibitions, local food and beers and even a cake-eating competition. It’s all happening on West Chatham Street in downtown Cary.
24 Sept: Wildlife Expo – Join the Triangle Branch for a wildlife expo for all ages. There are more than 14 hands-on, interactive exhibits and demonstrations at the 2022 Wildlife Expo in Fayetteville. Learn about the natural environment and the important role that hunting and fishing play in North Carolina’s fish and wildlife conservation.
24 Sept: The Questioner Exhibition at Kidzu – This brand new exhibition is based on one of my family’s favorite book series, The Questioneers, written by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts. It celebrates science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Celebrate the grand opening of this traveling exhibit at Kidzu in Chapel Hill and be inspired to solve everyday mysteries and think more critically about their world.
24 Sept: Nature play at Prairie Ridge – The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is offering several events this Saturday where kids and families can explore the world together. Events include a story walk, scavenger hunt, blowing bubbles, building a fortress, a “mushroom hunt” and more. Visit the website for more information. Events are free, but some require prior registration.
24 Sept: Get creative with Legos – Let your imagination run wild with our LEGOs, DUPLOs and MEGA BLOKS at the Spring Lake Branch Library in Cumberland County.
24 Sept: Lazy Hound Farms Harvest Festival – Enjoy all the fall fun the farm has to offer for half the price of admission! Families can enjoy a corn maze, pumpkins, hay wagon, tractor train and farm animals in Zebulon.
September 24: Fall Festival – South Regional Library in Durham is hosting an Autumn Festival this Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Enjoy games, a bouncy castle, prizes, crafts, music, snacks and outdoor fun! Read-A-Bull will be here for pictures.
September 25: Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo – The final downtown Raleigh food truck rodeo of the year will be held on September 25th. There will be a half mile of trucks 10 city blocks downtown.
